When is Counselling Helpful?

Counselling is a service offered for anyone who feels that they can't work things out for themselves.

Who can come for this service?

The Community Counselling is a new Agency service that offers counselling for 5 months. You can see a counsellor for 6/8 sessions for 1 hour, which takes place within the community. People come for counselling when they feel that problems are too difficult for them to cope with alone, for example:

  • When they feel alone and things seem too hard to cope with at any time
  • When they find it hard to concentrate, or feeling worried, anxious with issues in their lives or from the past
  • When there is a breakdown in family units or their relationships
  • Finding it hard to come to terms with bereavement or illness
  • When issues from childhood experiences are hard to live with
  • Wanting someone to listen without giving their own opinions or advice
  • Finding it difficult at work, college, or at home
  • Whatever problems that stops or hinders you from living a fruitful life.

Counselling provides:

  • A private safe environment for people to talk about anything they are worried about.
  • Helps people to explore and look at issues in their lives, giving them the time to analyse and reach a place that is right for them.
  • The time to help people to come to terms with difficulties such as anxieties, worries or stress, by helping them to look at issues, and coming to their own decisions.

How much does it cost?

This is a charitiable organisation and therefore our services are 100% FREE

Confidentiality

Anything you say within the sessions is confidential - this is between you and the counsellor. The exeption to this is if the counsellor feels that you will harm yourself or someone else and this will be discussed first with you before breaking confidentiality.

Who are the Counsellors?

We are a team of counsellors who are both male and female all of whom are committed to providing a good service to the community. All counsellors abide by the British Association for Counselling Code of Ethics. The Co-ordinator of the project is Veronica Liburd and will be your first point of contact.

Counsellors will not give you advice or judge you in anyway, but listen by allowing you to explore feelings, thoughts and look at behaviours to help you recognise anything that you want to change in your own time.
