Modern apprenticeships at one of the main ways into hairdressing or beauty therapy. These are qualifications aimed at young people aged 16 to 24 which combine the best of both modern training systems and traditional training routes.With a Modern Apprenticeship you'll be able to study for a qualification, working the salon, train for a career - and get paid as well, all at once!An Advanced Modern Apprenticeship leads to NVQ/SVQ Level 3 and Foundation Modern Apprenticeships lead to NVQ/SVQ Level 2 (hairdressing only).

You could study for a NVQ/SVQ, which are vocational qualifications. at our training centre. You can be any age and these qualifications are broken down into separate modules and units so you can learn each of the different skills you will need to become a competent hairdresser. Employers increasingly require you to have NVQ/SVQs, as they show that you can do the job and that you have the necessary skill levels.

The acceptable qualification for hairdressing is NVQ/SVQ Level 2, though most employers now expect staff to have Level 2 and 3. In broad terms, the acceptable qualification for beauty therapy is generally Level 2 to 3.
